Lock Stitch Machine is the most common and high demanding machine for men
& women’s clothing varieties. Lock Stitch Machine uses two threads, an
upper thread which comes from the sewing needle and the lower thread which is coming
out from the bobbin. The two threads upper & lower threads lock together in
the hole in the fabric which they pass through.
To make a stitch, the machine lowers the threaded needle
through the cloth into the bobbin area, where a rotating hook catches the upper
thread at the point just after it goes through the needle. The hook mechanism
carries the upper thread entirely around the bobbin case, so that it has made one
wrap of the bobbin thread. The take-up arm, then pulls the excess upper thread
(from the bobbin area) back to the top, forming the lock stitch. Then feed the
dogs pull the material along one stitch length, and the cycle repeats.
There are two types of lock stitch
machine according to the number of sewing needles and bobbins, they are:
2. DNLS or Double Needle Lock Stitch Machine.
A double Needle Lock Stitch Machine
works on the same theory as the SNLS machine while using two needles and two
bobbins thus resulting in two parallel rows of lock stitch.
When the stitch forms, correctly
equal amounts of bobbin and needle thread are used. Upper and lower threads
interlock in the center of the fabric.
The double needle lock stitch is
the tightest and most secure stitch.
Box Pockets on safari jackets, light jeans and pyjamas,
top stitch front collar edges of safari jackets, sew pockets on coats, sew
skirt box pleats, top stitch the collars of ladies wear, top stitch the cuffs
of ladies wear, suitable for sewing shirts, uniforms, jeans and women underwear,
inseam of the trouser, etc. are sewed by
double needle lock stitch machine.
Advantages:
1. Lock Stitch Machines are versatile and can be used for
a variety of operations.
2. Compare to all other stitch types, this class uses the
least amount of thread and produces the flattest stitch.
3. It is reversible.
4. The double needle lock stitch is the tightest and most
secure stitch.
5. It is the only stitch formation that can be back stitched
if the ends need to be secured.
6. It is non-revealing.
7. Good hands.
8. Lies flat on the fabrics.
